Later, he was engaged in getting out timber and burning charcoal, an 2 CONC d during the winters 1867 and 1868 he found employment in cutting drift timbers at $75 a mont 2 CONC h.Mr.Meyersick next purchased a freighting outfit and conducted in freighting between Diamon 2 CONC d City and the Missouri River from the spring of 1868, when he went to White Pine, where he w 2 CONC as employed as a brakeman on wagons used in transporting ore down the mountains, returning t 2 CONC o Montana in July 1869. He was then ranch hand in the Missouri valley until the fall of 187 2 CONC 0 and in the following spring, he purchased a farming and cattle raising until 1873, when h 2 CONC e sold out and moved to his present ranch two miles south of Cottonwood, Fergus County, and w 2 CONC hich comprises 154 acres of exceptionally arable land, yielding fine crops. Mr meyersick als 2 CONC o gives attention to cattle raising, in which he has been successful. In politics he is a Dem 2 CONC ocrat, and his religious faith is that of the Methodist Episcopal church, of which his cheris 2 CONC hed and devoted wife was likewise a member. 2 CONT On the 5th of December 1871 ,Mr.Meyersick was united in marriage to Miss Alice Steele,who wa 2 CONC s born in Cooper county,Mo,the daughter of Ewing and Anna E. Steele,natives respectively of M 2 CONC issouri and Kentucky and both members of the Methodist church.Mrs. Steele`s death occured i 2 CONC n 1897 and that of her husband in April 1901.Mr Steele was a member of the Independent Orde 2 CONC r of Old Fellows. To Mr. and Mrs. Meyersick twelve children were born, two of whom died in in 2 CONC fancy, and William R., who was killed while serving as a soldier in the Philippines, Februar 2 CONC y 13, 1899. The surviving children are Edgar, Albert, Charles and Frank (twins), Annie, Ada 2 CONC , Eva and Verney (Verna). William Henry organized the first farmers insurance company in Hanco 2 CONC ck County ,Illinois. He was married in 1850 to Anna Boehling, who died in 1858. He was agai 2 CONC n married in 1859, at Quincy, Illinois, to Anna Wilhelmina Niekamp. By his first wife he ha 2 CONC d four children, one of whom, John Henry, died in May 1904. There were also Mrs. Minnie Hopk 2 CONC e of Golden, Illinois, William Jr. of Wichita, Kansas (actually Benton, Kansas) and Mrs. Carr 2 CONC ie Hamann of Redfield, Kansas. He had ten children by his second wife, two, Rudolph and Ann 2 CONC a , dying in infancy. Those surviving are Theodore M., John, Mrs.Alvina Siemers, Matilda, Emm 2 CONC a, Edward of LeGrande, Oregon, Charles and Frank.
